Several members of the New York State Senate and Assembly are pushing for the "Domestic Violence Prevention Act - Brittany's Law."
The law would work like the sex offender registry: when a convicted felon moves into a neighborhood, neighbors are alerted. Six states have already established the violent offender registry.
This legislation has passed the New York State Senate multiple times but continues to be stymied in the Assembly, failing to reach the floor for a vote every time.
